Get swept away by the scenery of Ayangue and the El Pelado Marine Reserve on this day trip from Guayaquil. You'll snorkel with sea lions, spot wildlife found only in this region, and enjoy a traditional lunch by the sea.
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Guayaquil and head for the coast of Ayangue, a drive of about 2 hours.
Once we arrive at Ayangue Beach, we'll change and gear up before boarding a boat to the El Pelado Marine Reserve, a true biodiversity hotspot. There, we'll go snorkeling in the waters around El Pelado Islet, swimming alongside sea lions and checking out all kinds of tropical fish.
During the activity, we'll also be able to spot seabirds nesting on the rocks, including blue-footed boobies (yes, their feet really are that blue), pelicans, and frigatebirds. Plus, if sea conditions and visibility allow, we'll get to see the underwater Christ statue, sitting 12 meters (39 feet) below the surface.
After snorkeling, we'll head back to Ayangue Beach for some free time to relax while a local restaurant prepares a traditional lunch for us. Once we've eaten, changed, and soaked up the coastal scenery a bit more, we'll hit the road back.
We'll wrap up the trip by dropping you off at your hotel in Guayaquil, about 8 hours after pickup.
